1 Memos to serve for History of Santa Fé Expedition

After the battle of San Jacinto the Rio Grande became the S & W boundary of Texas & by treaty with Santana; consequently Laredo, then up to ? & all the towns on the East bank of the Rio Grande including more particularly Santa Fé were considered de jure in the Texan Republic.
For a long period Santa Fé, Chihuahua & the other neighboring frontier provinces of Mexico were supplied with manufactured goods by American traders, who in return took cash, bullion & peltries, thus driving a pretty lucrative trade.
It now became a matter of serious consideration with the Texans to establish the means of a commercial communication with Santa Fé & moreover to ascertain how its inhabitants were affected towards Mexico, & if it would not be more advantageous for them to openly declare for Texas.
Very soon after the decisive victory of the Mexicans & capture of Santa Ana, this became a favorite idea of General Lamar.
