do not mention it but possibly Genl Grant and Genl McPherson may be ordered to command in the Eastern Army. should this happend I hope it may be postponed untill after the fall of Vicksburg.

The Rebel Cavalry are annoying our line of Rail Road East from here should not be surprised to hear of it being broken any day. it is very difficult holding a line of Road in an enemyes country and I have always been at a loss to see the necessity of holding so much country in Tenn but presume Genl Hallick has his reasons for so doing.

I see by late papers that cotton goods are advancing very rapidly. should think it would be very hard to do business successfully when the markets are so changiable. nevertheless I should like to try it myself. my mind is much upon business and I frequently review your intire business
