I would like very much indeed to stop in and spend Christmas and New Years with you but I'm must contend to wait for the good time [coming?]. I often wish myself at home this winter. In fact I'm discontented when I think how much I could benefit myself during these winter months Cold weather is favorable to study and I wish I could improve the present winter but however I will try and make the coming weeks of advantage to me even if I have to remain in this army. I suppose we shall go into winter qts and remain several weeks. please write often
