Dear Mary

 If I could write letters as you can, I would write all the time, and if you knew how I like to get them & read them you would send them to me. Really no one can write as you do & it is always a joy to get them.
 Life runs on the same way with me, most of the time is spent trying to get some poor person ? or keep them out & I often think it does no good for the everlasting flood          ?runs? & one of a hundred doesnt ? - Still what does do good, & if here & there you can help one specific case it may be just as good as good as working unstintingly for a cause which recedes as fast as you approach it. What an everlasting engima is life, & how we do get lost in its dark maze - No sooner do we plant our feet in something that seems like solid ground than we find the sand shifting under us & we look for something else.
