Poor Sam Stewart is again out of office he was here as a first lieutenant in a Jerseyville company. With one exception the company are in pretty good health, he is very sick with Bilious feaver. It looks some like rain to day I hope it will it is so dusty outside of the gate the dust is so bad that a regiment going to dress parade [illegible] can hardly see the man ahead of me. The crowd at the gate is like the St. Louis fair.
