time with the exception of the last two days was very pleasant and we have been also very busy. not so much so, though as to justify my in neglecting to write home. We have got a complete new reg, a battery of men 10 lb Parrott guns, 3 inch bore new harness and in fact everything new and I understand ar under orders from Genl Thomas to go to the front as soon as possible. The boys are anxious to go. and we have got a splendid battery. When I was down town getting our guns last Thursday I met McAdams the Sutler. He intends going to Chicago in about a week and promised to call and see you. Jas Malcom was up
