76 Females in their uncleanness must take no food but homany, or thin drink.

At child birth the woman must be in a tent by herself, and in two or three days after the birth of the child, the mother washed herself all over and put on clean clothes; and again about the seventh day. Thus some were clean, but others again washed and changed their clothes, and then on the morning of the thirteenth day at day break went to a river, and plunged seven times, & on coming out, put on new clothes, having previously put her defiled clothes under water & washed all her blankets, citation: Mrs Chism.
Anciently women when with child, ate little, if any meat, and were not subject to any of the complaints attending modern childbirth, when delivered. They were often able to be in the field hoeing the next day. citation: Mrs. Chism.
Some infants were not allowed to suck for seven days after they were born, but were fed (by a priest) with a certain tea (enquire) These were devoted to sacred offices.
