Utica, June 22, 1864 Dear Parents,

  I have come so far with the baby. am now at cousin Mary's and as I've got into so good a place I will stay till tomorrow to rest a little. The baby is very good and I am sure you will all like him. We started from Corry yesterday afternoon at about 4 P.M. and reached here 5 A.M. today. As it will be cooler in the afternoon I will go home then tomorrow and I shall be very glad to have some of you meet us at the depot as Eddie is heavy most as heavy unclear page torn Eddie that is according unclear, page torn Erie and alas unclear, page torn morning.
