in 1978 or thereabouts.

There is one more thing that you ought to know. Before I was struck by bone cancer end of Oct 1980, I travelled regularly to my Chicago office. I was invited to join the Kerr Board. I told ? & Rosen that I will do whatever I can for the Publishing Co, without taking a place away from some-one who is around Chicago - and available while I was away most of the time from there. That however did not stop me from beginning to find a way to obtain financial help for Kerr. I thought, as you do, that some of the books published ought to be read, - if not by the general public, then by trade-unionists. I have some good contact with the top-people of well-fixed unions. I called upon them suggesting that the International buys a few hundred well-chosen books and give them to the library of each local. Unfortunately - as you know, - there is never any money for educational purposes and thus I did not get any place, but I did not give up.
I read your enthusiastic description of Rosen's contribution to the worthwhile Publication Co. I do not take away anything from Rosen, to whom I wrote a number of times suggesting that Swabeck ought to be given his manuscript [?] and his money be returned to him as soon as possible. Rosen never once answered me. do you think that that is proper?
