letterhead DOWNTOWNER MOTOR HOTEL 347 EAST MAIN STREET. LEXINGTON, KENTUCKY 40507 PHONE 254-7010 image [drawing of a motel]

10/6/67 Dear Jack & Gladys

Tempus Fuget, but I'm still a maverick in the world of puss, prestige, petrol, and big business (Politics, also) I've enjoyed seeing your mansion, Wife, grandson & read your books again.
The Library in Webster, as well as St. Louis, just won't cooperate & give me the books you wrote for me, that is the best. I did receive the invention of the Negroe, and the Wobblies. Ok I'll keep giving them hell & wind up with a book or two. Wharton is still in our Sunday Paper, and surprize! - I stopped in the Lorreto Hilton theatre, to pick up tickets for a free loading customer of mine & saw Biggs' "works'. He has definitely improved & is quite good. Do you still have his address?
