Duval County Jail Jacksonville, Fla. Jan 22.56 Dear Jack,

    Bud recently wrote me a letter from Miami Beach which outboded in dire prophecy the billets-doux that Paul sent to the Ephesians.  Unfortunately, I did not receive it in time, and it was forwarded to me in jail.
  I'm in on charges of breaking & entry and grand larceny.  Seems that taking a hasty rear-exit leave from a ship outfitter's establishment with an armload of binoculars, I collided with an irate policeman.  I now have a faint idea of how it will be when the world ends.
  However, no vain regrets.  I'm looking at a 3 to 5 this trip, from all indications, though there's an outside chance I may get hit with the deck.
