    But tis really gratifying to see how nicely A gets along notwithstanding her Desolate, destitute condition - they do live pretty easy She thinks that James works hard but he does not half the work that you boys us'd to at his age & Lucy is always busy doing nothing Jane does twice as much work as she does every day but A. has many many excellent qualities  and is a very useful woman. In some way or other "by hook or by crook" he seems to be always pricely provided for at the last pinch - without the industry and diligence at work that almost everyone would she must have in her situation
