It makes me think of Lucy (many things do) when M. first came up here (She was expecting all to be theirs I guess) E. is sincerely lovingly kind & attentive to me in every thing he ought to be to me & more too - Maria & Hattie are just as polite, as kind and attentive as they can be every thing just right. S. thinks of taking P.P. right along to Minnesota in the Spring it makes me sad - He needs tender affectionate care which he would probably have but he needs also discipline - He is not a very stubborn child but so full of roguery it is difficult to make him mind exactly and quick but is on the whole a very good boy

Sam'l has just returned from Milo been gone 3 nights they were all well at M. & at Brownville except Mr. Rider he suffers exceedingly can take no food but liquid & that with great difficulty, Said one day that he should never try to swallow again if it was not duty - has face very much swollen but can talk tho' it hurts him a great deal. This is a poor naughty letter I am asham'd of it dont let any body see it and I'll try to do better next time
