 Later we took a trip to the coast. It was about 145 miles round trip. Part of the road was through very pretty country, part through uncultivated land which was not

even pretty, and the last part was over a mountain road, the Coast Range, and it was a very beautiful, winding road, until at last from a high point we spied the ocean where we stopped and drank it all in (the scenery not the water). After feasting our eyes for quite awhile we drove on until we landed on the beach where we had a picnic lunch. The beach was extremely wide as the tide was out, there were beautiful white caps on the water and a mist was settling on the mountain tops
