an awful fire. The Smiths yard got on fire and the big pine tree out by the old trivet? got all on fire We all fought fire untill (sic) the fire department got here some excitement then Clare Man sent a man up the next morning and now it is being cleaned up. he is some good any way. Well I have some things to do so will bring this to a close when I left your place that day I did not really bid your Mother goodbye but I guess it was just as well, I did not like to say goodbye. love to both of you From Your Friend Mrs Nichols
