4/ to Cora's and started back while was at Miss Slaughter's as we had a little talk just before they drove off, then Cora continued the talk after. The problem of the little children is still unsolved but will have to be in January. Larrie is to be operated on early Tuesday tomorrow morning, but they hadn't told the poor kid. XXX Had a little talk with Miss Slaughter thanking her again and I read that paragraph to her that you wrote about your Registrar party and your playing for the community singing both times. Miss S. said I was so welcome and glad I could come.

Where did you have your Christmas dinner? You mentioned Sam's?- coming Christmas Eve, but nothing further except Martha thanking for Tommy's book.

Today is grey, cloudy but not cold. Yesterday was one of our ideal days. I have no fire, and each cat has his own favorite places, Tom on the sewing machine, Jerry in rocking chair by empty stove and Laddie on my bed. Wish I could find a nice home for Jerry. He is a lovely, handsome cat and lets me handle him now, but the others pick on him and spit in his face. He is wonderful to them, kisses them always when they meet and wants to love them. Happy New Year! Much love to all, Mother
