Stobie the owner of this specimen is of opinion and there is no reason to doubt the correctness of his conclusion that this pouch was used for the purpose of carrying one of these medals and is made of buckskin. Two disks of skin. the front one six inches in diameter the back one with the fringe nine and three quarters inches in diameter are sewed together with sinew. to form a pouch leaving at the upper edge an opening three inches long as a mouth. At the mouth is a triangular piece of skin and from the ends of the triangle is a broad strap or band made of two parallel strips of buckskin with strips of raw hide sewed between and each wrapped with porcupine quills dyed red. and others left natural. with a narrow strip of bark between the red and white the strip is forty inches long and two and one half inches wide. The front disk of he pouch is worked in quills two triangles one of red with an edge of a [?] [?fibre?] the bark of a tree. and a single row of [?] about the edge the rest is white Below the disk are two strips of raw hide covered with quills. the top one is red on the ends a parting of brown and a centre white the lower one is like it except that the ends are carmine instead of red. About the edge of the pouch is a fringe of buckskin. made by cutting the edge of the rear disk into shreads. At the bottom of the pouch is a fringe made of ten bits of raw hide sewed to edge of the rear disk and wrapped with porcupine quills below the quills as each such strip is a deer's toe. and below this a leaf of raw hide wrapped with carmine and white quills and with two narrow strips of buckskin at the sides of the fringe. the pouch is complete.
