Dear Mum:

 So sorry to hear of Mrs. Huston's death. I know it has grieved you very much. I wrote at once to Miss Rhinesmith and to Roger. Have asked R. out to dinner

this Sunday. Have explained to Miss R. about the delay in forwarding the letter. I set it aside to forward and it got buried under some papers. Thought it was just a Christmas card. Hope Roger will get damages from the company.

 Papa was out Christmas. Guess I told you.    My best gift was one to myself of a vacuum cleaner - Eureka - . A wonderful help. Takes a pound of dirt per day
