Dearest Mummie & Grandma:

 You will be somewhat surprised to see the above from where I am writing - no more surprised than I was yesterday morning at Hub's office to get a letter from Nellie Zay saying that she had run a rusty nail into her foot and wasn't able to get about and wanted me to come and stay with her for a time. She didn't say how badly she was hurt so don't know how long I shall have to stay.  The boat hasn't left Chicago yet and people are still running up and down stairs with clashing keys and slamming suitcases.
