Bookie is asleep in one of the cushioned chairs, an unusual thing for her to be in the house. She spits in her daughter's face and refuses to eat off the same plate with her. Tattie cowers before her mother's wrath and realizes that she is "on her own". But she is the sweetest little kitten. She has a way of sitting on my lap whenever she sees me sit down, and cuddles up on my right arm with her nose in the bend of my elbow and relaxes for as long as I'll hold her. And she is so pretty with her snow-white coat, her pink nose and ears and her blue eyes. But I don't think either cat is smart, as Midge was. They scent things rather than seeing them, and Tattie won't come when I call her unless she takes a good notion. Mrs. Dobbins seems decidedly better & stronger. Saw Mrs. Godwin for awhile yest. She was out planting petunias she brought from Coras, and walks very slowly. Much love, Mother.
