I wrote a letter for her lately to a renter of hers - My God, Tafern, I hope you never have the trouble she has (Tho there's no danger you ever will) in not being able to write down your thoughts and compare a letter. She can take dictation all right, but she can't put her own thoughts on paper. She is thinking now of sending a letter to Truman, and said she might want me to sign a petition, etc. etc. Sometimes I think she's cracked! I brought home the bud from an immense cactus plant yesterday thinking it would open last night, but it didn't. Maybe it will bloom tonight. Perhaps you didn't notice the plant when you were here. It is trained over and between two big oak trees in the Mall opposite the post office. It has dozens of buds on it and this is the third time it has bloomed this summer. May big old cactus has also bloomed 3 or 4 times, as well as the one trained up on the corner of the house in front. It's 93 degrees. No more at present. Love to all, Mother.
