I've just finished reading Cross Creek by Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings - and enjoyed it very much. It is not a novel, but a sort of autobiography and many short
biographies of "help she has had, neighbors, and incidents, even recipes, all about Florida life, 200miles or less, North of here. You will enjoy reading it aloud to Max. And now I have another new book Angre [sic: Angry] Pavement by J.B. Priestly. I read his Good Companions a number of years ago and liked it, and I hear him occasionally over short wave B.B.S. as he "does his bit" by cheering and philosophising and explaining.
