(con)sidering the prevailing high prices, I do not think that was so bad.
Got a letter from Annetta - Starr's oldest girl, saying he - Starr -had had a slight stroke. I sent her a letter right away with stamped env. for reply but have heard nothing further. She said his speech was affected but thought he would be all right if he did not have a recurrence. I am somewhat in a quandry as to whether to send this letter to A.P or to Bartow but as the package was mailed from A.P. I am assuming you are home again. Hope it will be forwarded if you are in Bartow. Will try to remember to mail you the Chicagoan tomorrow. The children return to school tomorrow and seem rather glad to go. They have had a long vacation. Made a batch of bread today and bran cookies and did out some of my underwear and a sweater for Malcolm. Marvin found a turtle this morning and took it down to the lake to restore it to its natural habitat. Helen got a small legacy of $500 or so from an aunt in Calif. and used most of it to pay up back taxes on her aunt Anna's place in Elgin. As the house has been willed to her, I believe this was a good way to spend the money.
Loads of love as always, Tafern
