Avon Park, Fla. Nov. 30, 1926

Darling Tafern:

We have just had a soul-stirring hunt for an oil check which came yesterday. I handed it to Uncle when we got home from town so he could open it and gloat over it while Mother and I went to call on Mrs. Allan Woodruff. Today I asked him where it was so I could enter it. He said he put it in a pigeon hole in my desk. Then he pulled one out of his pocket that came the day before. As I had given him both of them at the same time we, neither of us, could understand why he had one and not the other. Hence the grand search with excitement waxing higher and oaths hotter every minute on the part of our aged relative.
