1866. Monday, January 15. Miss River Rained in the morning cleared off pleasant with some wind blowing. Reached Memphis early in the morning. Did not leave the boat. Read the papers procured here. Read a good deal in "Our Mutual Friend" Are now getting well North & the weather indicates it. Sit up until about midnight reading. This is very good boat.
