Poor India, the more I read about her the more hopeless does her future seem, an over-populated, poverty stricken land. Torn with irreconcilable parties of religion and caste! The abysmal ignorance and inhumanity is frightful! Those sacred cows are a type of the degrading unclear - That England should get any profit out of it is appalling! I have also just read Rebecca West's "Black Lamb & Gray Falcon", a brilliant book, picturing another entangled corner of our earth, with no hope for peaceful democracy. That we should dream of settling any of these problems is to laugh bitterly. Democracy,
