and night for three long dreary days - I had to walk a half a block and at night had a granite slop - pail, No water in the bed-room (tho there was such an abundance out-doors) except what I carried up in the water pitcher they used on the table, or a jelly glass that I copped from the kitchen. Somehow it didn't seem to occur to my hostess that anybody ever wanted a drop of water. If I could only carry Lake Michigan in my grip I could get along very well. I had an attack of tonsilitis the second day I was there (brought on I think b eating some escalloped oysters that were passe) and I was cold and feverish all day. Passed the most wretched day and night I've had since I was sick, and no fresh
