167 & inclinations of his parents in his settlement in the World & comforted them. It was the reverse of Esau, his disobedience, was the cause of sorrow & grief to his parents & procured him the character of a profane person, given him by the inspired apostle. Joseph also was a most dutiful child & God prospered & gloriously rewarded him.

 Our blessed Lord - example is our illustrious pattern; at 12 years of age he went down to Nazareth & lived with his parents & was subject to them; giving us a bright example of filial piety in the Obedience & love to his earthly parents & work.g with his hands to maintain them. You who are children can never equal your parents in love, kindness, care & tenderness. Let it be your labor to recompense them & to show your gratitude for kindnesses received by your love & reverence to them. Shun all occassions & causes of grief to them & let them have the pleasure to see the good fruits of their labor in your virtuous & useful conversation in the world. Parents can have no greater joy in their life than to see their children walk.g in the truth.
  Disobedience to parents is mentioned as one awful evidence of degeneracy & of persons  & people ripened for judgments.  disobedience to parents, is joined with unthankfulness & unmercifulness & they who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.  The curse of heaven will fall upon such, either in this life or in the life to come.  Prov. 30. 17.  The eye that mocketh at his father & despiseth
