undertake to change the nature of the human soul- especially a sinful man (for the case supposes there are none but depraved men to save depraved men-) How would one man who is a sinner be able to change the nature of another sinner into a state directly different from his own? How absurd even the supposition appears- We see therefore crossed out there can be no salvation for this quarter- Satan cannot rebuke sin- one sinner cannot rebuke another sincerely- & much more alter his nature from sin to holiness- Again - How could an angel change the nature of the human soul- this is above his power- an angel cannot make himself & certainly he cannot create others- or change their natures when made- But supposing an angel could regenerate the soul, yet, how could he satisfy for men's sins
