5 that my agents - Curtis Brown Ltd - have on here in the U.S.A. It is only for a first novel so I'm barred - but oh - I'm hoping the Scotch lad's book proves a winner. It is so tender, so delicately beautiful that book - you will love it. It's a bitter day - here. March certainly came in like a lion - a snarling, hungry hard-as-iron lion. May it go out like a lamb with softly sunny skies, a velvet singing little southwind; with snowdrops nodding in the border and my crocuses laughing gayly in the grass. I have not once seen your husband and have not once been to the Chaplains since that night the sad news came. Twice I met them on the train, They never come here. We are all pretty busy, paying bills, painting woodwork, dreaming dreams of summer joy. As for me I dream of a perfect garden but stand waiting breathlessly to love my imperfect one. Love to you all. Katharine Reynolds.
