- 3 - So much has happened since you left and yet - nothing has happened - on the surface seemingly. Dick had his tonsils removed at Christmas time, and other mean things happened at the same time so that we had a really mean Christmas - the first in years. It was so mean that it was funny. When that fact dawned on us we laughed and began to be happy. Sam and Dick have been home three times since school began and I went to Champaign once. I miss the boys but the peace at home is heavenly and I'm getting rested - and younger - I'm not as driven. I've made my silver brocade evening dress with a darling little bag to match and I wore it to the club dinner the other night - The once yearly event in Lombard - and made quite an impression. You see people see me in the garden and get the notion that I don't care for clothes only for books and flowers and lovely hours of chat and friendship and then I amaze them by wanting absolute beauty in clothes. They're always surprised.
