172 soul, which all those actions that have a remote or direct tendency to the perpetuation of this great sin, & on the other hand it demands the cherish.g all those friendly & benevolent affections & dispositions towards our fellow men & others, that are proper & necessary to make life desirable & happy.

   This comprehensive precept respects then the regulation of our thoughts, our words & actions in all our intercourse & connections with men. It is a law given by the omnificent searcher of hearts who demands rectitude & goodness of thought, as well as propriety of conversation & behaviour.  That this law is thus spiritual & extensive is evident from the nature of things & from the Scriptures.
