fat it is as wide as it is long, almost. I get war news when static allows. I have no command of language suitable to express my feelings. We are all "het up" over village election the past week. Two fish-frys tonight. Each side certain of victory. Some jokesters paid registration fee for an old bum whose wife, a very decent woman, discarded him some years ago. And he is seriously claiming votes and may get in, as the disaffection is so great against the present council. The present mayor is a puttering old fuss budget not good for much else, but he has been on the job so many terms that he thinks it belongs to him. The real bone of contention though, is the city attorney. I enclose circular. The former c.a. replies in the A. P. Times, which I do not take. He makes a pretty good defence, except that he did get a good haul from the delinquent tax payers. There is a tax payers strike on now. [written in left margin]

I haven't paid mine. Not because I'm striking though - it is the first time I've been delinquent - Much love to all. Mother
