Warm Springs A. June 5th 1878

Sir.

I am directed to dispose of the Public property at this place, belonging to the Indian

Department; and find on the Agents papers, and on hand 1540 lbs hay, 200 bu. charcoal and 335 lbs coarse salt,

which will not pay transportation to the Navajo Agency when the balance will be taken.
I desire to turn the above items over to the Officer in charge here, and will esteem it a favor if you will authorize him to receive and

receipt for the same See? charcoal has already been used by the troops.

- but on an agreement to return alike amount
I shall return here in about two weeks. and trust the requisite authority will be obtained by that time so the business of the Indian Dept here? can be closed out.
   Very Respectfully
   E.C. Watkins

U.S. Ind Inspector
