not need the salvation referred to by The apostle- Some are so wise at this day as to affirm, that they do not need to be made any better- they are Just as good as their maker intended they should be- & they do not wish to be made any better. They crossed out need no salvation. But this is saying but little to their purpose, except they mean to become sufficient, & be equally pleased with God destroying their comforts when he pleases, & punishing their souls in tormenting pains for their sins as long as he pleases in the world to come.- It is of but little consequence for any to say they do not need salvation, unless they are prepared to be happy in enduring the penalty of God's law, & all the misery he may see fit to inflict upon them. If they are happy now and are prepared to be happy in God under all possible circumstances whatsoever may befall them, then they may be prepared to say thy do not need any salvation- But If men are not happy in God now, it is folly to pretend
