     Turin, Oct. 11. 1844.

Dear William,

      Your letter and Anna's came tonight. We were very glad to hear that you are all getting along so well. So you are going to have over a hundred bushels of apples in spite of everything. Those that have been sent here are a great comfort. They were very glad to get the butter, Mate said the tears ran down Eddies cheeks as he was talking to her about it. Poor boy, he is not able to eat any of it yet, but we hope he will be soon. He gains very slowly but if we can keep him from having  relapse we shall be very thankful. Mate
