44 duties of righteousness towards Men, which are the subject of the remaining laws of the decalogue, will be easy & pleasant. For he who is lovg & dutiful to his parents will be just, righteous & merciful to Mankind; And on the other hand, a disregard to parental authority, and an ungrateful neglect & abuse of parents, is the fullest proof of a depraved & vicious heart, that is prepared, ahenwer? temptations & opportunities invite, for the perpetuation & commission of all those sins & crimes, that the remain.g precepts of the law forbid & condemn under the severest penalties. Filial piety then lays the foundation for the practice of all social & relative duties & forms a habit, that temptations to are righteousness & wickedness, cannot easily overcome. This is the duty principally aimed as in this precept,because as it begins in infancy & continues thro' life, it is the first & most important branch of relative duty. Other moral obligations are included in this precept and are happily grafted on the flock of filial piety - such as the mutual obligations & duties of Husband & Wife - Masters & servants - Ministers & people - magistrates & subjects, & also the duties of parents to their children & those that are due from all to their equals & inferiors, & to the aged in all conditions & relations.

 Their several obligations & duties are comprehended in the spirit & intention of this moral Law, & which I shall briefly attempt to illustrate,
