1633 29th St [?] Washington DC - Aug 2d 84 My Dear Genl

Your kind letter at hand - Mrs Henry and myself look forward with pleasure, to being with you & yrs this Winter, and wish it could be longer - the date of Manning's going, or my coming, relieves me from hanging out in the cold - There would be no trouble about my delay, in his joining - but I dont believe, the Powers that be, take any order being made an exception - Perhaps a few years, may show, that orders cant be always carried out - I hear that Genl Hatch 2d Cavly, disband the Recruiting detail, but is going to be obliged to take it. Many want it - as to Markley, he is so low and despicable, I have been much annoyed always with Him - An examination of the master, will show Him up - in a bad light - I must like the matter
