So many blessings upon you and me that I should be an ingrate to cry out, because I wasn't given every thing I wished for. Things regarding the plays have not been as I could wish, or had hoped for, but it is only temporary and while I am sorry it is so, I certainly am in a much better position than even a year ago; as I have fewer debts, and my assets in the way of plays, are not [?retire?]. You know as I told you in Chicago that my "Notre Dame" is in the hands of a fiend, I do not doubt that I am sure they are cheating me, and cannot yet prove it, all I can do is watch closely and in a quiet way try to push the play - Which I am still doing. The Murphy play is very valuable property
