The note of approval & admiration of Mr Jefferson, is truly a full compensation for the abuse of every reporter in Chicago & will do you more good, than all their abuse can do harm. If not a breach of confidence - (& I take it for granted that Mr. J's note was to be used at your own pleasure) you should take occasion to get that note published in yr Theatre paper in N.Y The favorable opinion of a man like Jefferson is worth money to an aspirant - & your manager will fully appreciate the fact. This is the last letter I shall direct to Chicago - as you will soon be gone - best I will write - to N.Y & also to Buffalo - Let me have your dates as soon as possible. Ed's wife has had a miscarriage, but is all right again. He says he owes you a letter, & wants yr address, so I shall send it. All send love. Ida is entirely well, but has a scar over her right eye. The post is looking lovely, & I wish you were here to enjoy the hunting.

With love & kisses yr affec Father
