16/ (A.D. 1819) Sergeant/ was a great friend to this new ?lar of Indian improvement. We often met & discussed upon the merits of this important as well as interesting subject. a portion of his congregation (by the invitation of the Delaware Indians) emigrated in autumn 1818 into then Indian Country now in the state of Indiana but unfortunately while they were on their way the land or location which was intended for them was sold to the U. States. Undoubtedly, on account of those people he was anxious to see a permanent location fixed some where in the west, where all the New York Indians may settle down together in peace & quitness?.
