anything or not The Opt remained with him until 11:30 p.m. and up to that time he could not learn anything in regard to what Titus had done or whether he intended to do any injury to the Company's property or not

Thursday - July 26 - 88 Today in CHicago acting under instructions from Mr Merrill the Opt went to the Prospect House saloon where he met Sweeney and after getting a few drinks into him he commenced to talk. He cursed Titus and the Opt asked him why he was so bitter towards him, and why he did not try and get even with him and in reply said he intended to slug him The Opt pmped him in every way and finally came to the conclusion that Sweeney knew little on nothing about what Titus or the other strikers were doing and so reported to Mr Merrill who then instructed him to ascertain if possible what Hogan Murphy had been doing He then went to the Prospect House bar and met a man who he thinks was Titus they had several drinks together. this man said that the strikers were still confident of winning. In regard to Hogan Murphy he said that, "those duffers came and tried to get the men to declare the strike off so that the R. R. would get their team acquitted of the charges against them
