On Cars May 13th -- Received last evening by hands of Dr Comfort, telegram from Dept Hdqrs prohibiting my taking any transpn except 6 mule teams & wagons. - Am disgusted - Sent Claggettt into town with telegram 

Broke Camp 5.30. went with Wellington ahead of Comd 
 Found a lot of my men who had sneaked into town last night
 Train all waiting for us
 When Comd arrived about 7 am went up with it - put sentinals & N.C. Offs on watch to keep the men from slipping away & went to work - Goods in stores - took wagons to pieces?
