Valparaiso July 14th 1869
Dear Sister
Once more I sit down to try and give you a descriptionof the sights and scenes that I have witnessed in a strange and foreign land. In my letter to Father and MOther I left off at the month of the [unclear] of Valparaiso on account of light winds it was nearly dark before we got in and ready to go ashore but at 6 o clock I was enabled to set my feet on dry land once more
Valparaiso contains about 30,000 inhabitants a great many of whom are English and French the greatest part of the business being done by the [unclear]. Almost before we had got an anchor down a boat came alongside and who do you think that I saw? = nobody else [unclear]but Frqank Allen. I believe that I went almost crazy with joy. as soon as the custom hourse office had been on board I got in his boat with John and went onshore where we had a long talk of Matters and things as they used to be. And just as we were entering the door of the hotel who should I meet coming out but Lucas Clark and Mr. Sage this was a happy nmeeting for all and taking them back in the hotel we spent the evening in relating over
