Cantonment I.T. Thursday September 23, 1880. Broke camp at 7 am but before leaving bagged 2 teel that had the temerity to come near camp - Thousands of cattle all along here - On road home saw a flock of Turkeys - bagged three - Arrived before 12 m - All apparently glad to see me & old Sgt Leonard so delighted that he got on a moderate drunk - much to my surprise & his wifes disgust - Dined with Clarke - Found everybody well - post in good condition - no sickness - but everything parched up by dry weather - So End to the Grand Campaign
