SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 15, 1863 Marched down to the 7th St landing and our regt & the 150 went on board the Lousiania & left the wharf at 3 P.M. The scenery on the river is not very interesting. The boat tied up at the mouth of Regina Creek about unclear - dawn?
MONDAY 16 At daylight we hove anchor and steamed down to the mouth of Potoniac creek, where we changed our boat for one of lighter draught and went up to Belle Plain landing, where we landed and after unloading marched about 2 miles and camped. Had my tent up first of any in camp.
TUESDAY 17 When I awoke found 4 or 5 inches of snow on the ground & still snowing, which it continued to do all day, turning to rain in the evening. This was one of the most dreary days I ever saw. We did not bring tents along, only unclear blankets.
