page number 89 Nov - ed at last. It is now some what cold, and is snowing in the mountains. 27th. Nothing new. 28th. The mail, escorted by Lieut. Bingham 2nd Cav. & a detachment from his Regt. came up later in the evening in two days from For Phil Kearney, & six from Laramie. It is a special mail from Omaha and calls for more reports than I can mention. It seems they have never received a report of the Post. Bridger came along with the party and is to stop at this Post. The indians have been troubling Phil. Kearney almost all the time. Recd. one letter from Saml?. who is in the unclear brig in Ohio.
