page number 76 Oct - snow on the prairie was gone. In fact the snow storm did not extend two miles down the river, but a great deal fell up in the mountains. In the evening the camp was all excitement, caused by the appearance of a number of horsemen and a wagon on the road, on the bluffs on the other side of the river. It proved to be Lt. Bradley and party returning from Fort Benton &c &c. They had had a very pleasant time and had not met any hostile indians until yesterday when Dr McCleery & Brennan the guide being some distance in advance were attacked by about 60 indians and the latter killed
