the business of closing upon himself, spending the whole forenoon in my room, then asked me to select the classes I would like so I told him I would like to give up to him Algebra & Geom. not having had that department for some time my indifferent knowledge of those Branches had been crowded out by other pursuits, I did not feel prepared to advance a class etc. - I have Ancient History Rhetoric, Analysis, Arithmetic, Grammar. there are one hundred scholars in both rooms besides about 40 juveniles. I have forty five young ladies only six or eight under twelve years of age - the oldest twenty two: Mr. P. and myself hear classes at the same time each composed of scholars from both rooms so that in almost every class I have a long row of tall young gentlemen to catechise which I like vastly i. e. the plan, - The school has been under good regulations, - the teacher left to accept a good situation as teacher in Arkansas: I owe my situation to the Rumsey's - the girls mentioned me to the teacher - the brother went to see the trustees and wrote - other applications were too, - they did not expect me any sooner, knowing the notice was short. It seems just the situation for me if I can only succeed in giving satisfaction for which my efforts will not be wanting Mr. Rumsey lives over half a mile from the Academy: it was at first thought I could not board here Mr. R. too, a
