Kinney & others while out about 5 miles from camp. In the evening they crossed the river and went up to the canon and though they saw one. 25th. In the evening saw a buffalo come down on the opposite side of the river and act as if he were going to cross. Mounted my horse "Peter" and started to intercept him as came to this side. Arriving on the bank it was some time before I saw him but at length discovered him about 10 feet from this shore, cooling himself off by standing in the water.
